Being one of the most developed cities in China, Shanghai keeps attracting people from all over China. The low-income groups of migrants and locals mostly settle in the old town because of affordability and proximity. However massive gentrification and rapid urban development are outrageously collapsing the community. This project sits in the middle of the old city, attempts to explore a new approach that could preserve the historical heritage while at the same time responding to the demand for urban development.
